Jean de Jésus-Hostie. Notre-Dame de la Montée du Carmel. Éditions du
Carmel, 2021. 211 pp.
This book aims at scanning, in a practical fashion, the decisive influence of the
Virgin Mary in the Carmelite approach. It analyzes in what way the imitation of
the life and virtues of the Blessed Virgin influences the Carmelite life and
spirituality. The author studies "the effects of a full consecration to Mary in the
spiritual life, particularly in the life of prayer and contemplation"; he gives us a
spiritual method to a better access to perfection in love; and he also explores
the different aspects of Mary as mediatrix, mother and servant, from the most
dogmatic analysis to the most intrapersonal one. This book follows the line of
thought already explained in the past by figures such as St. Louis Marie
Grignion de Montfort and the carmelite saints. Available in French.
