San Juan de la Cruz y la Virgen

This book examines three themes by which it manifests the relationship between St. John of the Cross and the Blessed Virgin: his life, his doctrine and his poetry. Despite the very few references to the Virgin Mary in the writings of the Carmelite saint, the contributors to this book draw attention to the profoundly Marian character of the spirituality of Saint John of the Cross. Taking into consideration certain apparitions all through his life, the saint’s closeness to Our Lady and the way through which the saint devoted himself to Mary all life long, honoring her and serving her in everything he did. In addition, the collaborators emphasize the fact that Saint John of the Cross’ writings are entirely permeated by not only a profound knowledge of the religious, spiritual and literary sciences, but also by a very personal and intimate identification with all Mariology.
