Com Maria, à descoberta do Amor

Pe. Marcelo da Virgem do Carmo, Com Maria, à descoberta do Amor, Vida e autobiografia (1887-1966). Edizioni OCD. Roma.

Known as the "Carmelite Kolbe" (F. Léthel), Venerable Marcelo da Virgem do Carmo is a Carmelite that stands out in the Marianism of the Carmelite Order. Born in Hungary in 1887, Father Marcelo describes part of his life in his autobiography O Belo Amor. Recordações da minha vida em Maria [The Fair Love. Memories of my life in Mary]. This assignment covers his journey from his birth to the moment of his admission into the Order. The question that guided him in writing those pages was: How important was the Virgin Mary’s influence on himself in his past life? As a way of expressing himself, Father Marcelo used a beautiful symbol: The Star, to represent Mary. His relationship with this «Star» knew several special moments. From the dawn of his life until he was 18 years old, he announced: the Star will light up. It was for Marcelo a time in which he uncovered Mary and had an intense experience of Her. Then, as happens in the lives of so many young people, the Star will be darkened. Through college years, when he met the philosophical currents that were setting pace then, it also began a period of sixteen years of withdrawal. Then, the Star will reappear, when Saint Therese’s Story of a soul crosses Marcelo’s paths and he also reaches God through the contemplation of nature. Finally, the Star will shine in Marcelos' life, prompting him to request the admission into Carmel, after discovering that Virgo Carmeli is his Star. It was in 1925. Fr. Marcelo would live until 1966. In that rather long period, he will experience all the historical events that brough martyrdom to the Eastern Europe Church and that had repercussions in his life. However, the life of Fr. Marcelo was becoming increasingly more Marian, until he ended up having a beautiful living experience of the child Mary and a missionary communion experience with all human beings. In addition to the autobiographical text of Marcelo da Virgem do Carmo in Italian, this book, published by Edizioni OCD and carefully edited by Rafael Bakos, also includes some studies by Luigi Borriello and François-Marie Léthel and an extensive documented biography of Venerable Father Marcelo da Virgem do Carmo. This book is available in Hungarian and Italian.
