Although not intending to turn this work into a treatise on the Mariology of the
Carmelite Order, its author, Fr. Ildefonso de la Inmaculada, presents the Marian
way of the Carmelites since the beginings to the present day, drawing its
inspiration essentially from the manifestations of Marian spirituality that can be
found in the written sources. This book constitutes an approach to the
intrinsically historical Marian life of Carmel, insofar as it starts with the
foundations of the Order, it scans over the great saints of Carmel and ends up
by revewing the more recent times. Mary is hereby seen as a teacher of the
inner life and a model on the faith journey. In short, this book amounts indeed to
a treatise on the Marian way of the Carmel, analyzing in detail the ways in
which Mary lived the faith, offering her as an example for all Christians.
